We know that not everyone believes in the value wedding planners bring to the planning process or believe it is necessary to hire one. Our goal is to shine a light on the work wedding planners do across the nation to ensure you have a smooth and fun wedding planning process and wedding day. Our intentions are always to ease your excited, yet sometimes overwhelmed and stressed hearts.
Project Beauty was a for profit, self-care soiree that was a one-stop shop for all things beauty & wellness! We partnered with a local charity, Texas Advocacy Project, to shine a light on dating violence and sexual assault in Central Texas.
Don’t get me wrong; starting a business with your best friend is not for everyone. It works for Alexis and I. If you are considering it, make sure you have a shared passion, excellent communication skills, a system of checks and balances to stay on track, and a road map of roles and expectations to allow your business to stay the course.
Every once in a while, we get the chance to play with some fun wedding trends and work with some of the most creative wedding vendors in the Austin market. It is so fun to collaborate with these vendors to turn OUR vision into life!
When we aren’t meeting our newest friends, we are navigating the waters of being a small business owner. Let me tell ya; there are more moving parts and pieces than I could have ever imagined. From figuring out taxes (looking at you TurboTax), to watching webinars about the software we use, to stepping up our social media game, there is so much more to running a business. Every second is worth it though. Hands down.
We would have never dreamed that two months into this journey we would have landed a spot at one of the biggest bridal event in Austin, but we freaking did. Our old selves would have never imagined being business owners, but we are! We are truly thankful that we have allowed ourselves to dream a little and run with Simply XO Events. It is everything we ever wanted and more.
It truly is not about the wedding, it is about the marriage. Forget about the glitter and glam, the table runners, the floral, the center pieces. Look past all of that and realize after the night of your wedding, it was just a thing. The “thing” you get forever is your husband and that marriage…and that people, is more important.
I ended up in Texas when I committed to UT Austin to pursue my Master’s degree in Social Work. Wait. What? Social Work? Okay so real talk for a second. Yes I have a Master’s degree and no I am not using it. I know that probably seems ridiculous. It’s okay if you are laughing at me right now. I spent a good amount of time doing the same. Long story short, it took me getting my Master’s to realize that my real passion in life wasn’t social work and I felt it on my heart to pursue something else.
